Planning: Props

The props used in a music video can be very vital to the outcome of the video. If the props are featured heavily in the video, or even just shortly, each prop needs to be carefully selected and be perfect for the job it needs to do.
Prop 1: Phone

One prop that may feature in the video is the use of a mobile phone. I may decide to include a segment where the artist receives a phone call from a female, suggesting that this is the reason why he is in a rough place. The phone will only be included for a very short time and won't play a significant role in the video. I am unsure whether to include this scene as this isn't a plot that I intend to pursue throughout the whole of the video, so therefore I may not include the use of a phone. However, I feel this prop would be suitable as it could appeal to the genre audience, this is a prop that I would expect most of this genres audience to be using. Therefore this would meet the the conventions of a music video as I am targeting the audience by including this prop.

Prop 2: Glass item

Another potential prop that I intend to use is a glass item. This will be used for a couple of cuts however it will be the same shot. I intend to show this item falling and eventually smashing when coming into contact with the floor. This item will be easy to get my hands on as it wont need to be overly big or expensive. I had plans to use either a vase or something similar as these are easy to find and aren't too expensive. This item won't particularly be used for anything other than using it to benefit the video's quality and will be used to connote a fall in the artist life. As seen in the picture to the right, this product could be purchased very easily without having to spend too much money either.

Prop 3:

The only other props that I have an intention of using in my music video is twigs and branches that are already present at the location. The artist will simply be picking these up and throwing them around. This wont be something that I have to prepare for as they're already there and wont need to take them to the location. This item again will only be used for the shot purpose and not to appeal to the audience in any way.
