Planning: Casting

Jake Hughes
Potential Actor 1: Jake Hughes
This is one of the potential choices for the artist in my music video. To some extent, Jake would be suitable to be casted in my music video. Jake's style would be suitable for the video as it is similar to many artists within the genre of the music video I have chosen. Jake is a confident individual when he is in the presence of people he knows. This would be useful as it would be well presented in the video itself. However, Jake might not recreate this confidence when he is behind the camera and this would leave the video looking unprofessional and it would not have the same impact on the viewer. Despite Jake matching the style required, without possessing the confidence behind the camera Jake isn't the ideal candidate for this role. The most important quality needed for this role is the confidence and charisma when being filmed, this is what will enhance both the quality and likeability of the video.

Potential Actor 2: Luke Gibson
Luke Gibson
This is another one of the potential choices for portraying the artist in my music video. Luke Gibson was one of the shortlisted actors due to his appearance. Luke's appearance would be exactly what I would be looking to use in my music video as he would represent the same conventions that are featured within this genre and this is the main aim in my music video. In order for the music video to look more professional it is vital that as many conventions are included as possible. However, despite his appearance being perfect for the role, I doubt whether Luke would be the most suitable for some of the aspects of the filming process. I aim to include an aspect of lip syncing within the video, I don't have the most confidence that Luke would be the best person to do this and I don't think he would give off the feeling that I want. Luke will still remain a highly considered candidate due to his appearance being the most suitable out of the candidates, however due to the aspects of lip syncing not being achieved by this candidate it is likely that Luke will not be casted as the main character in this video. The video will not have the same impact if many aspects within the video look awkward or uncomfortable when watching. The video is intended to make the audien
ce feel an empathetic view on the character and I don't think Luke would be the most appropriate.

Potential Actor 3: Jack Stanley
Jack Stanley
Jack is the third shortlisted candidate for my music video. I feel Jack may be the weakest candidate for this role. Jack has some desired features for this role such as his confidence that could be portrayed on the screen. This is a desirable feature and would ensure that the video looks professional. However, Jack's confidence is usually when he is portraying more of an enlightened mood and hasn't got to take the role to seriously. I question that when I require him to portray an emotional mood whether he will struggle to bring this to light. If this is to be the case, it would put the video in jeopardy and wouldn't have the same impact on the audience as what I was hoping for. Jack is also quite an unreliable person and may also be an issue when it comes to filming the video. This would make it difficult to find a time when he could attend the filming sessions and could potentially lead to the video being rushed and suffering from a lack of quality as a result of this. Due to all of this, Jack will not be considered any further for this role as he is not suitable and only has one desirable feature.

Potential Actor 4: Oliver Iarrobino
Oliver Iarrobino
Oliver is the fourth candidate that has been considered for this role. I believe that Oliver has the capability to bring forward the emotions that I require from the actor. Oliver is quite a mellow person and I believe that this will be to his advantage as this will allow him to be more natural when behind the camera as this is the type of person that he is. The main aim of this video is to show the life of an artist and the rise and fall of his career, this will involve portraying many feelings and emotions such as ecstasy and the feeling of defeat. I feel that Oliver could go either way with this and relish the opportunity, but also struggle to play the many roles that I require from him. Also, a major problem for Oliver might be his confidence behind the camera. I feel Oliver might be another one that could struggle for confidence and charisma when behind the camera. This again would not be suitable for my music video as this would hinder the overall quality of it.
