1. Music Video demonstrates genre characteristics
- This theory is applicable to the music video as the video is created for a song which falls under the 'pop' genre. The video is centred around the dance routine which is commonly used in the pop genre.
2. There is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. The lyrics are represented with images.
- This theory is also supported the video. There are many stages during the video where the lyrics have been supported by whats seen on the screen. At one point during the song a lyric reads 'everybody well don't you know it's me now'. While this lyric was heard the visual on the screen featured the singer firstly pointing around the location an then pointing towards himself.
3. There is a relationship between the music and the visuals. The tone and atmosphere of the visuals reflects that of the music.
- Again ,this theory is supported by the music video as during the video there is evidence of this. During the video there is an example of this where the tempo of the music slows down and subsequently the routine of the dancers dramatically slows down and the moves suit the music.
- The use of lip-syncing is included in the video, the lip-syncing is used for every lyric in the song.
4.The Demand of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artists motifs which recur across their work.
- Throughout the video this theory is supported. Throughout the whole video the artist stands out in the video through the framing placing him in the middle. The clothing he wears is different to the backing dancers and close ups are often used to focus on the the artist of the song.
5. There is frequently reference to notion of looking (screens within screens, mirrors, stages, etc) and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
- This theory is one which is used frequently throughout the video and is a theory which dominates the video most commonly. Throughout all of the video the artist is stood on a stage and there are mirrors all around the location where the music video is filmed.
