James Blake was born in Enfield, London, England on 26 September 1988. James Blake is an electronic music producer and singer-songwriter who writes and sings his own songs. Blake released his first album in 2011 and was subsequently nominated for the Mercury Prize. Blake's second studio album 'Overgrown' in 2013 was also nominated for the Mercury Prize Award. Blake's good year continued with his first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy awards. Blake's record labels include R&S, A&M and Universal Republic.
Blake's career began in July 2009 when he released his debut record 'Air & Lack Thereof'. Due to this track he gained a lot of attention from BBC Radio 1 and particularly radio presenter Giles Peterson. Blake was also studying popular music at Goldsmiths while coherently attempting to pursue his career within music. Blake's music career continued to propel and gained more attention from BBC Radio 1. Blake's cover of 'Limit To Your Love' was released on 28 November 2010 where it reached number 47.
In 2011 following Blake's self titled album he became recognised as an upcoming talent as shown through his nomination of BBC's sound of 2011, which he placed second. He also came second, behind Jessie J, in The Brit award for Critic's choice which was further recognition of his talent and promising future. Blake released his next album 'Overgrown' in 2013 and this was a further sign of his huge talent. This album subsequently earned Blake the Mercury Award Prize award which was a massive achievement for Blake.
